Overall this week was again pain free, I think I am finally completely over my ankle injury. I have learned a few new things over the last few weeks that I need to prepare for on the longer runs. Number one is the whole nipple soreness that men can experience, for a second there I thought I was going through puberty again, what a scary thought. The second important thing I discovered is how uncomfortable it is to be 3.5 miles from your home and/or public restroom, then you finally reach home and realize you did not bring your keys and code to the garage door will not work. Not to mention that you find out your 5 year old daughter has actually listened to you and will not open the door without permission and your wife is still asleep upstairs. Luckily everyone responded in time and there was no embarrassing situation.
Could I run a marathon next week?
It seems like a very remote possibility.

Weekly Update 7/18/2010
Overall this was a successful week. I was able to run 4 days and besides my left Hammy being a little stiff the last couple of days there is really no aches or pains to speak of. Plus I got in two rides on my Mt. Bike this week 12+ miles each ride.

Weekly Update 7/11/2010
So this week went pretty well. I was able to run three days this week, my goal was to run four, however after the second run my left adductor was really sore again, so I took to days off and found some new exercises to help strengthen the muscle, http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-241-285--13543-0,00.html . I have to admit I never would have tried these before because the do not involve lifting any weight, but I will be the first to admit you can really feel them working. For my third run of the week I left the friendly confines of my neighborhood and went and ran on the Brushy Creek trail, I think I will try and make this run a little more frequent, it is shaded and really relaxing.
I decided to start and ask myself the same question every week. Could I run a marathon next week?
NOT A CHANCE!!!!
Hopefully this answer will change by the end of this journey.

Weekly Update 7/4/2010
Well this has been an interesting week. On Monday I decided to get my foot checked out by a Doctor and after he looked at the X-Rays he informed me that I may have a hairline fracture and that I will need to wear an air cast for 6-8 weeks to allow it to heal. Luckily the radiologist read the X-ray a little different and stated that the fracture was from a previous injury and that it was healed, also he stated that there appears to be no further damage to the bone or the tissue.
This week I only ran one day, Saturday, and I will also take it very easy this week to allow my ankle to fully heal. It is very strange because I feel no pain when walking or running but I still feel discomfort when I point my toes forward as far as I can.
